Hi hope someone can advise. My tumble dryer keeps tripping the elecrics 15 min into it's cycle. Just need to test the heater components. To check therostats should my multi meter be on high setting or low.

It' a condenser one not vented stripped it down removed the heater and need to check the thermostats. Using my multi meter but should i put it on high ohms or lowest setting. 2 pins test probe each side i believe it should read close to 0 if working or show open circuit if faulty. Is this correct.

Circuit breaker. Then I've used an extension lead with a reset switch on. The dryer runs a cycle for about 15 min gets hot then trips the extension. Press button to reset start dryer again and runs for a out a min then trips extension been on same circuit for 3 years so that' why I'm trying test thermostats thinking it gets to hot and they trip the elecrics. But just want to test them.

if it was getting too hot ?
then it would trip the thermal cut out in the dryer.
But you say it is trippng the breaker or rcd
this would most likely indicate a faulty element in the dryer
Or even faulty wiring in the dryer
Time to take it to a Pro
Or just buy a new one.

Think maybe you could check on Electricsafetyfirst.org to see if it is a withdrawn one or dangerous in any way. There are a lot of tumble dryers that are defective in some way and have been withdrawn. They seem to be very problematic. We have a Flatley dryer, lasted 25 years and passed it's PAT last month. Can't beat the old stuff.
