Does anyone else get driven mad by the continual tuneless whistling and humming of painters and plasterers? It seems to be a requisite of the trade,an endless aimless whistle and humming of no recognisable tune which sort of goes nowhere.I don't think I have heard sparkies doing that.

I used to work for a builder who had a plasterer who, all day long would utter the phrase: "Ye knaa worra mean?" to which the painter would reply: "Aye!!"

This went on constantly all day & every day, but it was never established what it was that we were supposed to know about. :rolleyes2:

I find it tends to be gentlemen of a certain age, ie old farts. You rarely if ever hear a 'youngster' doing it.
It's most annoying when they're trying to compete with the radio, maybe throwing in a bit of singing into the mix: "La da da dee dah..."

Well......Not one for singing on site....did sing along to Bon jovi with a friend once while driving through a town centre, what does that count as?
I don't think singing along once, with a friend, in the car, is quite in the same bracket as relentless tuneless whistling/humming/singing all day.
So what is your radio station of choice? ... Or do you generally work in silence?

Unfortunately silence a lot due to working in a lot of old folks homes, if I can get them planet rock or pirate

Next time I get the plaster's drolling tunes I'll get my friend around and we'll try some other 80's rock, followed by searching the plasters forum for a thread along the lines of 'Electricians butchering music?'
