Tunstall Piper Haven Speech Unit

last night had a callout for a faulty smoke alarm the system is aico and links into the communal red care Tunstall Piper Haven Speech Unit.
The customer is getting an intermittent beep so not matching the aico 40sec faults and aico alarms are working normally on and off mains power and engaging the call system.
Although i haven't witnessed this fault on my 2 visits I've narrowed it down to the Tunstall. looking online i can only find manuals for subsequent models as this seems to be long discontinued however they mention an internal battery that should be changed ever 5 years and a red fault light however this isn't indicating.
any ideas?
does anyone have a pdf manual?
unfortunately customer has my mobile number rather than going though call centre grr

I have come across there before at a McCarthy & Stone retirement flats spoke to the engineer about it said it was a product made for them.

I know this is a very old post but I have a similar problem. Apparently it could be the smoke chamber needs cleaning. The one I've got has relays to link to the Tunstall system. My fix, new Aico alarm with relay base.
