Touched on this before in another thread but unable to find. I've started to first fix a TV system. At the moment I've done it as old standard ie from aerial to amp in loft then down to various TV points. TV point in lounge will be near the BT / Sky box etc. Would it be better to run a coax down to Bt /sky box from aerial first, then back up to amp in loft and then from amp to each and every TV point. If done that way, would the smart TV's in various rooms all be able to use the Bt / sky facilities offered. Thanks

You can get hdmi face plates where the hdmi plug plugs into the back of the faceplate and which gives you a flush hdmi socket, never really had much to do with them though due to the room you get inside a backbox and the amount you can safely bend hdmi cables.

The more connections you have the more likely you are to get problems so we always used to use long leads you can plug direct into the tv and AV amp/Sky box etc..

Agree with ash_s3 - the less joints the better. Especially where RF is concerned where you can drop 3dB even on a 'good' joint. Also, never scrimp on the coax - always buy decent stuff (ct100, etc.). The signals are at such a low level that is doesn't take much attenuation to affect them. And have you seen what passes for screening on the cheapest coax cables? You could drive a bus through the gaps! :) Daz

Wish I had known more about various TV coax cables before I started .Years ago I always used loss coax cables, but of course in those days just one cable from lounge to loft space for the aerial guy to finish off.
As mentioned earlier, I've used RG6 TV coax cable. Oddly enough I've used RG59 +2 shotgun cable the CCTV as that seems to be a standard cable used (apart from Cat5). Hopefully RG6 cable will be OK.

Thanks all. I've altered the TV system to suit so that I get bt /sky signals too all TV,s. in house. Lounge TV will be wall mounted, so I've installed behind TV 13a socket and 1 x TV point from loft. The BT / SKY box etc will be sited almost below the Wall mounted TV.
I've run 2 x coax cables down to BT /SKY (1 in - 1 out) hopefully will fit 1 gang skt box. At this point would it be worth running any additional coax cable to loft from lounge position.
If installing CAT5 cable for possible future use, would they be run to wherever the hub /router be sited? I can't think why, but would any be required in the loft place? hope all makes sense, been a long day , knackered!

You will need to run 1 cable from where the router is planned to be, to the point where you plan to put the switch. Then all the cables from here to the desired points across the house. Don't forget a 2G socket where the switch needs to be.

Are you wanting to distribute the satellite cables aswell? If you don't sky will only come along and clip a cable all round the house and drill through the wall into lounge. I prefer to use the loft box to do it all, that way sky only need to mount dish and connect up to the cables you have already installed.

make sure to drop the cable low down the wall because they are not allowed to go up there ladder's very far lol
