As they will be used so often I recommend spending a bit more to get a pair that will last and make you more efficient.

I got a little discount for having an electrofix account.

These have seen me through well, they stay sharp and make stripping and bending 1.5 and 2.5 so much quicker.

I hope things go well on the trial days, just be prepared to listen don't be afraid to ask questions and always look for something to do. If they're anything like the firm I've started with it'll feel like you've just walked into a tornado! It's good to get used to that pace though, just don't rush yourself, speed will come naturally.

I'm house bashing at the moment and to be honest the only tools that I really use are my snips and drivers.

My drill and impact driver gets used a few times but most of the time you will be cable pulling and terminating.

Just remember where everything goes if in doubt ask.

Switches and socket heights change from job to job. Currently its 600mm for a socket and 1350mm for a light switch, but you may well have your own heights to work too.

The best advice I can give is don't be afraid to ask questions. If you look stupid you only look stupid for a few seconds and then its forgotten.

Odd heights those mate, are you allowing 150mm for screed and tiling or something?

Wasn't knocking you by the way! I agree you should follow the spec, just with both sizes being 150mm higher than I would expect I thought it must be something to do with the finished floor level and was intrigued by what it could be![emoji1]

I know Pennychew did not take any offense. As we know there are some weird specs out there. Chop them, fix them power them and get out.

update after my first day .....

spent the morning with 2 lads. they were installing the new circuits for the kitchen and consumer unit for a one bedroomed flat. started at 8 and finished by 2. dont honestly know if i was more a help than a hindrance ... asked lots of questions, asked for things to do and kepts the place as clean as possible.

the afternoon was spent changing a cu in a 2 bedroomed flat .... this quickly turned into a fualt finding exercise and i spent over and hour removing socket and spur fronts for them to be checked over ...

im really looking forward to tomorrow .... i need to speak with him regarding pay etc but i'll worry about that tomorrow ...
