IF its run in singles then p/ feed to first switch, your 2 pass wires between both switches, switch wire up from your last switch,to both lights, neutral to lights. and earth to all metal back boxes and fittings!!! try a basic wiring diagram book tho!!!!

hi
i have just completed my first year of nvq l2
and because we wanted a project to get our teeth into
they gave us a two way lighting circuit with 2 lampholders using steel conduit
we have got the wiring right up until the first light rose but feel unsure what we did from there
was ok we just need a correct diagram to check with before we test and submit the project
we would ask the tutors advice but sometimes it's like banging your head againest a brick wall

any help would be appreciated

you could use 2 methods here ,as you say " the wiring correct up to the first cielling rose" (loop in method??) no point!!!!the only cables from the consumer unit,at the light should be the neutral, the feed and the earth should go to your first switch and the earth back up to your light and to all other points!!!the earth is like a radial circuit!!!!!!! then 2 pass (strappers)wires between both switches. then a switch wire from your last switch to both lights!!the neutral only goes to the lights no need for them at the switch!!!!you may be using the loop in method but a just dont see the point!!! hope this helps if not type in 2 way wiring on google and get a diagram.:)

Draw out your switch connections as 3 dots facing each other. Draw in your 'strappers' doesn't matter if it is singles or T & E.

Then add your switch wire to one of the switches.

You can then IN PENCIL add in the switch between Common and L1 and L2. If you follow it down from the fitting you can check if by 'switching' the switches (rubbing out the line between L1 moving it to L2) it will break the continuity of the electricity OR make the continuity. Play about swapping the pencil lines between L1 and L2 to check you have it correctly.

At the fitting You have a 4 block connector Live / Earth / Neutral / Switch Wire

Your switch wire from this connector down to your switch goes DOWN from the Live and COMES up to the Switch wire Both should be sleeved as Brown / Live.

Your lamp is taken between Switch wire and Neutral.

Any further fittings should be looped from the Switch wire and Neutral.

No time to draw it out for you so I hope this is all clear.

Sorry my mistake correct 3 core should be used. Trying to type two quickly and need to slow down and check my work. Will go to the bottom of the class and wear my 'special' hat with the 'D' on it again !!
