Two way lighting issue

Hi all.

Ive very recently started college in my first year of an apprenticeship and today I wired a two way switch light. It all worked as it should until I noticed that it was on when both switches were in the same position and off when they differed. Probably a simple solution but would just like to know why this could be? Any help will be appreciated.

Unscrew one of the switches and tun it through 180% then make your observation again

answer no 1 is the easiest alternately you could carry out safe isolation and swap L1 and L2 over in one of the switches this would change the switch position. it is a small attention to detail but something that sets some electricians apart from others.

It doesn't matter one bit as long as two way works accordingly . They'll likely be in all states when in use so wouldn't worry to much about that . We used to have fun with not so young apprentices on two ways telling them their switch was upside down and they'd swap over we would switch other switch and hey ! "That Two way still upside down !!" The Look in their eye's like their cog's turning In there heads

the equal opportunities act says we have to accommodate those that swing both ways. if i had my way, they'd be shot.

it might not bug others but when all lights are off and there is a two way switch that is in the incorrect position it bothers me.
we were not talking about intermediate as that obviously gives more multiples in the same way when there is a 2 gang switch near to a staircase I prefer the light nearest to the staircase to be the staircase lighting and when there are three rows of spotlights in a room that the switch represents the rows in the order they are presented, it doesn't matter if they are not but it does matter to me. and I would imagine some of the others too

Incorrect position ?? I'm not getting wot you mean as if all 2 switches are in off position = light off ok , switch one on = light on so both switches are in different state , switch on switch two both in on position but light is now off ....elaborate ??

How could this be aesthetically . As all switches could be in either state c-l1 or c-l2 and light could be on or off ?? Pending on other switch

I get wot you mean with say multiple gang switch's logically switching light from left to right corresponding with lighting lay out
