Discuss Two-way lighting x4 switches in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

This job doesn’t sound real so I’m keeping out. But if you do some searching on the site you will find your answers.

I'm sorry I meant that 2 way and intermediate switches are not available as an off the shelf single unit that would easily match with any other switches.

An intermediate switch works by connecting north to south - or - east to west.
If you bridge north and east then you get a gang that either connects north-east to west - or - north-east to south, which is what a 2way does.
So you just buy a 2gang intermediate and bridge two terminals and you've got a 2 gang one of which is an intermediate and one of which is a 2way.

sorry, this is complete tosh. I'm obviously having a senior moment.
Use 2gang intermediates and only use one "L1" of the gang to make it a 2way, otherwise it'll stay on all the time.

Humble apologies.

Ok, right so I was sent to this job with a senior sparks who was there for a day, it was then down to me to do the whole job on my own first & second fix a five bed for the MOD, the end result being whether my small company got the contract or not. I had four pages of specs and yes I panicked slightly as it was my first job in charge and I was overthinking everything. At the start of the thread I did explain that I hadn't done any two-way lighting since completing college and I thought I might have some problems so I posted my question to make sure everything went ok. I felt like a bit of a plum for doing this as I done the lighting without having to think about it. The job went perfectly thanks. Theres lots of things I would have changed about the job if I could ie; LSF, singles, trunking, but the specs are the specs.
I appreciate all the helpful answers I got, I do find it strange that some people would come here to 'lol' at their peers, everyone experiences a mind blank. If someone asks me a question, I just tell them the answer - after all aren't we all in this together?!
Thanks anyway
Ps I've just looked at the original thread and yes I hold my hands up the whole question especially the RCD was basic stuff but... overthinking = mind-blank

In addition to Brians post above you can get electronic impulse relays, so no thud as they switch in and out.
