The only legacy this olympics has is the bad taste it leaves in your mouth

A lot of people have made a lot of money from this corrupt circus while mis-spending millions and billions of pounds, building venues that will be demolished after the event when investment could have been made in existing facilities that would have left a lasting legacy for sportsmen to enjoy for many years

This torch thing is just another one of the many follies that the organisers have created, people have been taken in carrying "an" olympic torch when carrying "the" olympic torch would have had more kudos IMO having been relayed from Olympus in Greece

I think the public are starting to wise up hence the reason that the last tranche of tickets have not sold out but the organisers are putting a positive spin on it that they never expected them to sell out and sales are ahead of what was expected

Makes me angry when they say costs are on target how can this be when the original budget was 3.3 Billion Pounds and they have spent in excess of 9 Billion Pounds sounds like incompetence to me and a few dropped decimal points here and there

Anyway must calm down this gets me so annoyed

Total waste of money,considering that we haven,t got any and they will put it on all channels.I,m sick of waiting to watch a programme only to find it cancelled due to some sporting event,would love to see coverage of the F A cup final cancelled to show a Norman Wisdom film,imo there are enough channels to show a sporting event without messing up normal viewing,I for one can,t stand sport in any form and the olympics are a waste of space.

not being a sports freak myself, i agree with you entirely, but hope you don't class proper sports ( rugby union, darts, snooker) with this olympic trash. thay's like classing the old grey whistle test with urinevision song tripe.

I'm torn on this one....you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. True enough, the outright winners of the Olympics are the corporate sponsors and the building contractors, but then those same contractors have kept blokes in work through lean times, so I can't really whinge about that. Gov cock-up this that and the other.... what's new there? Gov wasting money...what's new there?

The Olympics itself is a fine institution, prowess of man beating man, history and tradition. My lad is potentially in the running for Team GB 2020 if he keeps on as he is in his sport (Judo) so it'd be wrong of me to slate it.

Cheers Lenny. Ironically, we're actually off to London for the weekend as he has a big international competition being held in the Olympic village on Saturday (I think as part of the dry runs for the real thing).

People need to remember that in the most part, the only job a politician has ever had is politics. Nothing useful, nothing with a 'skill' required, no-one to ------- you for not using your brain to find a better/cheaper solution. That's the job of 'Business Consultants' and 'Strategists'. If you've read Douglas Adams then you'll understand why I would put ALL of the above on the same ship as the hairdressers and estate agents.
