Has anyone had any experience with this company?
My friend was contacted by them last week and told that the HSE and her companies insurance had instructed them to carry out PAT Testing at the site she works in!
When she informed the caller that she had already arranged for the testing to be carried out next month by another PAT Testing company, she was told that UKSM would beat any price and asked the price per item quoted, when she told them a family friends company was carrying out the testing at a very competitive price, she was then told that UKSM could simply issue a certificate by email for a small fee without even attending site, and as soon as the certificate was issued the site was covered by UKSM liabilty insurance!
She asked the caller if this was a wind up but was told it was genuine but was only available if she confirmed there and then!
She declined the offer but was even more surprised when the caller then offered a certificate for free if they could book the PAT Testing in for the same date next year!
She has asked my advice on this and obviously I have told her to stay well away but I thought I would ask on here if anyone has heard of UKSM and this emailed certificate business?

it's got to be a scam. no-one in their right mind can issue PAT certs. wthout testing. probably find the email will have a link that when opened corrupts your files or some such nonsense.

they've got these new-fangled wi-fi testers. all done over cyberspace. you just set your smartphone to camera. they see the image of the appliance and pass it.

They are one of the most aggressive business' in getting PAT work.

Another scheme they are running is to look at the PAT company details for competitive locations simply by looking at the labels, they then call the customers prior to the retest. Then over the phone they explain how the prior PAT company has gone bust - naming the PAT company directly, and they have taken on all their prior customers to ensure no loss to the customers H&S policy.

Had first hand experience of UKSM at a mates business about 3 years ago they are so full of brown stuff and up their own, after their first visit I had a look what they had done then got on the phone to them and got them back to complete the work that they wanted paying for on their second visit I made sure I was there they did no checks on fuse sizes or cord grips and missed a number of damaged flexes.

The problem with UKSM even when told no on the phone they will sometimes send someone to site to try and do the testing and bluff there way in especially if the site contact is not on site or available

I'm not surprised to hear what they are doing now, not had a call in a while I have a few mates with businesses who tend to refer these sort people to me as the company "technical manager" can be quite entertaining listening to these people while you act dumb then after a few minutes blow their bull**** out of the water.

I'm definately thinking about it but I was just looking for others feedback first.
They sound like a bunch of cowboys!
How can they get away with these sorts of tactics to make a quick buck?
