hi just some quick advice please guys, im working on a lampost circuit and the lamposts have been half buried so the inspection cover is underground, ive dug around one removed the cover and there is no fuse for the light, can I terminate the SWA cables in a steel box and put a IP68 plastic box inside of this and fuse the live then put the whole box just below the surface under the flag stone? or is there a better way cheers guys!

Lamposts have a colour scheme on the actual post...the bottom 12inchs is normally a light grey - it's the point that should be flush with the ground. The inspection panel shouldn't be underground. Im guessing they must be old lamposts....

LAMP POST CUT OUT LUCY 25 AMP LIGHT CONNECTION UNIT 6A FUSE | eBay

Thats the sort of thing you should really be terminating into...a lampost connection unit. That's if you can dig far enough to work comfortably.

Failing that then yeah you're going to have do it the way you said in a buried IP rated box...not ideal really imo, but what can you do...

Is putting the box with the fuse and everything in just under the flagstone still classed as accessible if the fuse blows, or will i nee to put it all in some kind of inspection pit like an earth rod pit?

Well who was the clever bugger that mounted the posts so that the access cover is part underground?? All i can say, is be prepared for excessive corrosion and condensation inside that lamp post. ...Plump crazy!! lol!!
