Had a quote to do today. Simple job, a doorbell (built in transformer and chime jobby)

Best option is to feed of the ring with switched fcu.

I took a look at the installation and noticed quite a few problems. No bonding, no rcd protection, CU right next to the gas meter, 3036 fuses etc

Zs on the ring measured 0.61ohms, PFC measured 951A, TNCS earthing arrangement.

I've informed the home owners of my findings, however is that where my responsibility for the installation ends if I do undertake the work and all my test results are good?

You would have to make sure earthing and bonding is up to scratch and that your work complies.

Tell them wireless doorbell with batteries...avoid the hassle of trying to get round the crap installation. You'll get no thanks for it, and probably not get the job anyway when you tell them the cost...which is fine...walk away.
Of course, if you can "upsell", do it, because you will be properly paid for your expertise, and they will benefit from a safer installation.

Yeh I plan to do just that. Thank you
