unexpected day off with sad reasons behind it

I woke up this morning to find my whole road cordoned off and police everywhere after my neighbour was murdered this morning. Police wont let us move any cars and forensics are everywhere. Rather annoying that i lose a days money but nothing that i can do about it. Apparantly an arguement was happening between the dead mans 22yr old son and an ex girlfriends dad, when the boys dad stepped in to defend him the guy pulled a knife and stabbed him then slashed the boys face!

Awful, i live in a sleepy village in south lincs and someone got murdered a couple of years ago about 30 doors up.
Seems it can happen anywhere.

The guys live 2 doors away from me and i have never seen so many police, there was around 30 people wandering around

That's because it can mate, years ago a guy I worked with didn't turn in for work. That afternoon the police turned up and told us he had been killed by his step father.
Sad fact is we are all just one nutcase away from becoming a statistic. Luckily the odds are infinitesimally small.

Relax, but keep alert.
You're more likely (and have been for a long time) to be killed by someone you are related to or know reasonably well.

Son's and Fathers seem to rate high in this category.

Sorry to hear that Ryan, such a nice world we live in!.
I hope that his family can remain well and will be able to manage and also that you and your neighbours are not suffering.
Loss of a day's money for you is not good, but better than for Mr hollow.
