just thinking back to my apprenticeship and the childish and silly things we used to do...

do any of us still poke a finger in someones back whilst operating a drill with the other hand.....always causes a reaction lol

Well not quite fitting in with your thread but a few years ago I was working with a guy I'd known for a few years, there was a 600mm thick wall which we needed to go through, after drilling it with a meter long drill bit he thought it would be funny to put it between my legs whilst I was kneeling down and spin it. The problem being is it had a slight bend on it but when the drill bit is a meter long the bend is a lot bigger at the end which he did not take into account. The next part was very painful as the bit caught my trousers in the groin area, now your thinking to yourself phew that was close, it was more than close as the next bit to wrap around the bit was my ball bag that tight it ripped a hole in it and he had to reverse the drill off it, and answering the next question yes it did rip, and I must say probably the most painful work injury yet. So the finger in the back and spinning the drill is not really a practical joke I appreciate as it give me a little cold sweat. And I won't reveal who did this injury to me but he is a member on here but I'm not sure he will admit to it!

When I was an apprentice the old hands favourite trick was to blow cigarette smoke into a consumer unit (or other accessory), button it up and then ask the new boy to go and isolate a circuit, whilst waiting for the fall guys inevitable panic.

My mates favourite trick is to pop a crisp packet with his hands as im 2nd fixing a socket etc, quite funny tbh

I have seen that trick on a bigger scale. The sparks in question was working in a live board at the time though. The joiners crept up behind him and pushed over a fire door onto a concrete floor. Made more than a pop and the sparks nearly jumped into the live board. Was a pretty good chase afterwards.

Another one that backfired was a guy waiting till the younger sparks was on his knees second fixing a socket and creeping up behind him with his nob out. Hovered the nob above his shoulder then called his name to get him to turn round to a faceful of nob. The younger guy leapt up and pinned the joker against the wall by his throat ready to stab him with his termy driver. Not amused was an understatement.

I once had a cover off a compartment of a large Distibution Panel. I expected to see Perspex with holes in it (for testing) covering the large busbars. I decided to test anyway, and as I had the probes on the bars, my labourer threw his wet helmet onto the floor, not seeing what I was doing. I pooed myself, and gave the bloke (older, and twice my size) a -------ing!
I once crawled under a false floor and grabbed this fellas legs, as he was installing some tray onto a panel we had Installed. It was hilarious, he had no idea I was under there, I'd only walked away from him a minute before!

Another favourite of ours is to bang on a bit of pipe, then open a tap, or an air release valve. I've been had with this a few times (sometimes the pump starting automatically).
on one job me and my labourer actually dropped tools and ran! How we laughed!
