Upgrade supply cable for 3 phase.

Hi.

Scottish Power upgrade incoming power cable to 3 phase. What was surprise me is they dig a hole in pavement and connected to existing cable. Should I be surprised? All cable, from connection point is 4 meter long and 1.5 meter is inside the building with easy access.

So they upgraded from singly phase to three phase and used a section of the old single phase cable....????

The cable was 4 core, but only one phase in Head.

The question is.. why they dig a hole on pavement and charge my customer thousands ponds if the cable was fine?

Customer require 3 phase. They connected to the cable outside the building under pavement. Give me one reason why they couldn't connected inside building if they have a lot of space to do it.

They don't do internal joints in supply cables?

The other 2 cores must have been cut off away from the head.

Hard to explain, but there is 1 meter space between fundations and basement wall. There is huge space to to connection. As well there was 1.5 extra existing cable.

Then get your customer to ask Scottish Power to explain their actions, if you are confident that the service cable was of adequate type (4 core) and size and of suitable length....
