Has anybody had any dealings with having to install any of these?
I understand that they are used within hospitals and schools...

My question is do they do a system which is small enough to be viable for the common areas within four flats?

It only need to run 500w of lighting...

Thanks

It will be original wall lighting, 230v bc lamps but not able to convert to emergency lighting due to restrictions of work within common areas... No chasing ect...

I have managed to fit downlighterd in one landing area which I will convert a %age to emergencies... The rest though I think will need some form of ups system, controlled from the basement area...

Hi,
I work as an installation engineer for a UPS company. If you give me an idea of what you require ie length of protected time I may be able to point you in the direction of what you need. I take it you have somewhere adequate to position the UPS. Also consider that the UPS system does require maintenance ie battery changes every few years etc

Regards

Mike

Hi there mike, yeah I have a suitable location and the maintainance is not a problem, the lient is more than happy, I have worked out I require a ups system to power 10 x 230v 60w bc lamps, 600w max load, the time needsto be 90 minutes, the cable length is amax of 20m... Hope this is enough info...
Regards
Ryan

Hi,
Sorry have not got back to you sooner.....Sounds a good price and yeah the battery set will be floor mounted and not rack mounted although I am sure you could manufacture some storage system for it. Dont forget to include your services for inspection of the system, nice earner, a few quid for dropping the mains and timing how long the batterys hold the load for !!!

Hi please be aware that all cables from UPS must be fire graded FP200 or piro. BC light fitting will not be acceptible for em lighting. Calculations must also be based on 3 hours duration. Main em lighting bulk heads are fitted usually with relay for ups systems so wiring would only be to new bulk head hopefully this would intail floor board lifting only and no chasing.

Can't you convert the existing fitting to take an LED lamp of some sort? You might be able to use a smaller UPS and put that 60 kilo battery pack on a diet. Not sure of the UK regs though.
