Hello!

I need to wire an extension, and I don't normally do this type of work. Just need to confirm where the wires go, so the downstairs ring will come from the floor joists and chase down the wall to their position downstairs. Now the upstairs (1st floor) will I need to just do a small chase (ie 450mm) up the wall and bring the cable in from below??

thanks sorry for this basic question just need confirmation!

Tom I'm sorry if this sounds insulting but if you need to ask this question should you be doing the work?
It's common sense mate

i think that sounds a tad harsh, he obviously doesnt work in this enviroment and just wants some guidance, i'm sure we all have some certain electrical knowledge in different fields that others don't possess, and by the sound of it this isn't his field of expertise.

don't have to be 450mm . height of sockets is at customers preference ( within reason.). if the extension has had planning approval, then notification and/or inspection is covered by this. and, subject to loading considerations, an upstairs socket circuit can be a 20A radial.

no they don't have to be 450mm to be fair but they have to be no less accessable than they we're before the re-wire
