I bought an under-cabinet light fixture. It is LED, so low power (120VAC 12.5W). It came with a detachable SPT-1 power cord. One end of the cord plugs into the fixture. The other end is a NEMA 1-15P two-wire plug. Here are the installation instructions that came with it:
I heard that NEC prohibits running SPT-1 in walls and prohibits permanent installation of SPT-1. Is that true?
This fixture is clearly intended to be permanently installed. Does code prohibit me from stapling or gluing the wire to the underside of the cabinet? A dangling wire will sure look ugly.
Is there a 1" high junction box that I could put under the cabinet and use to transition from SPT-1 to NM so I can run NM into the wall? The smallest hardware-store boxes I have seen are 2x2x4 and would be too large for this situation.
What do you advise?
Thank you!
