Use of access equipment , do you own or hire?

When it comes to access equipment , where do others source it from , and how do you price for it ?

If you have your own cherry picker / platform , how do you charge it out and do you find it cost effective?

I’ve got a 4 height Boss aluminium tower scaffold, obtained f.o.c from previous employment.
Don’t charge extra for it on jobs, just my extra time building it.

Towers I hire from HSS as it can all be booked online so I don't have to take time out of the working day to phone them and book it.

Powered access we hire in but I can remeber the name of the company at tbe moment.

We have a genie 1932 and I'm looking at getting a snorkel s3600p

We buy second hand off Briggs equipment and if I need extra I hire them in.

How do you move it around.
How do you keep it ticketed.
Do you charge per visit to site , if it is a long on going project or do you just allow a charge proportionate to the job size.

Dave and little sparks , how do you go about getting the towers signed off on site if needed ? I had heard from somewhere that HSS offer certified training in house and it is about the cheapest available.

I've never yet needed to sign one off, I don't work on sites or anywhere else where I've been asked for it yet.
But yes HSS do provide all necessary training if required

Same thing. Never needed it on a site that demanded certification. I think my PASMA have run out, but building a tower isn’t rocket science. (I know.... get a professional scaffolder in)

It is LOLER'd every six months and PUWER'd once a year.

I only work on two sites. We shuttle them between the two sites by forklift, literally only a few 100m apart.

We use them only for maintenance on our own factories, we don't charge them out as such. But if I need to hire an extra one I pay Briggs £80 a week. (I rent a fleet of forklifts off them at £3000 a month, so this is probably a reduced rate) I would have to pay them transportation costs as well.
