Had this in an email from Wylex, might be useful to people as it summarises some of the changes in the 18th edition quite well. things might change but from what I have heard industry and a lot of the various bodies pretty much know whats staying and going from the draft but cant officially say.

Thanks Gavin very useful

Not wishing to sound ungrateful GJH, but it doesn't tell us diddly squat, those proposals for the 18th have been knocking around since the draft for the 18th came out. The last thing for example, I heard about AFDD's were the term 'may be used'. Seems a nice little advertising flyer for Wylex new compact RCBO's, is about all I can glean from it. :)

each to there own @Midwest i dont take offence... admittedly it seems the contents were in the draft but i do know some people found it all a bit confusing and this leaflet whilst clearly a wylex promo briefly outlines some bits in a way some might find easier to absorb.
As for the small rcbos. every brand is now starting to do them and wont be long until the cheap own brands do them aswell.

I joined the email list for Certsure 'Its Coming 18th Edition' site a few months back, and nothing substantive has been forthcoming. Found out more from this forum - Chinese whispers and all that. So I can only guess, there've all been told to keep stumm, or none of these signatories to the 18th really know what those in the JPEL/64 have got in mind. Still only 123 days (allegedly) to go, before we find out how much more its going to cost us & our customers.

PS Wylex new compact RCBO's are SP&SwN, whereas the new Hager ones are just SP, as far as I can tell. Wylex 'Good to know, Chap 46'.

Just a query / thought from a different angle regarding the 18th edition regs.
As we all know the regs are non statutory & it is taken that if we abide by the latest regs we will abiding by the EAW act/regulations etc.
Are the EAW act/regulations etc being updated? if not then technically if you still go by the 17th amd3 you will still be abiding by the EAW etc like we are now.

Now im just waiting for the comments lol

I can't see that the EWA, refers to a particular amendment of BS7671, other than 'current' (page 2 EWA)? Unlike Part P Building Regs 2013 Amendment No1:2011 (page 3).

It all -------s :D

Have a wor
I wish I could find a supplier that can get of these Wylex DP compact rcbo's
I see you are in Northampton. Have a word with the staff in the local denmans, if i recall correctly from some work up that way its just around corner from the racecourse. I find Denmans are normally quite good at getting things that they dont have in the catalogue and if not normally stocked usually dont add much of a mark up on the price they get them in for either. That can change when head office decide to stock it permanently mind.

Well, yes that’s true that’s why we don’t have to ‘upgrade’ everyone’s CCU every time 7671 gets updated. The (old) CCU complied with the current regs at the time, the EAW hasn’t changed since so by default it must still be compliant.

However, stood in the dock trying to justify why you still are working to the 16th might take some doing.
