v phase

bethelec

just wondering if anyone has fitted, used, come across etc... theese v phase units that apparently maintain household voltage to 220volts effectively saving households money off electric bills

Not used one yet but planning to purchase and fit one at my own house in a month or so when I get time. Atleast then I can see for myself if they are of any benefit and worth the money before I try to sell my customers on the idea.

if you do a search, i asked the question before and got some good feedback.. think something like 17% of top of my head and only regulates upto 20A an not available in 3 phase yet...... so so...

depends on your house hold bill

for me £10 a week would £1.70 pay back quick enough???? im interested if you get better info, so come back to this post

Been quoted £200+VAT but getting a few more prices from other wholesalers too. Think the whole job to a customer would be about £500 which could be a hard sell if the savings in energy bills aren't worthwhile.

was a thread on this a while ago. apparently the cost savings are so small, it's not worth the effort. IMO , be better to go round the house turning off stuff when not being used.

i have read that it takes 3 years to break even on the price of the unit to the savings made. could be a slow seller but think i would purchase one

Do a search as Telectrix says there was a thread on this and also highlighted the pathetic amount of current it could deal with before turning off and also the reliability I think.

I'm sure there must be better ways to use your money

The hype and publicity surrounding those things can mask the non publicised downside of them
Everybody has decisions to make, but that would not be on any list of priorities with my own finances

failings like current capacity etc. apart. if you reduce the voltage then either you increase the current to maintain power or you lose power. i'll ask my bearded dragons if they are OK with the vivarium temp. reducing.

I have one, it requires a wee regig of the old CU cause It can't deal with loads over 2kW for long periods or it starts to shut down. You don't loose power upon shut down btw. It means that when the witch is riding round the carpets on the vaccuum cleaner during the day or sitting on her substantial behind watching daytime crap, my 248v supply is being regulated to 220v.

When demand exceeds 2kw it still operates and only if it exceeds it for a while does it shut the unit off. I paid £300 and fitted it myself. I expect to see it pay for itself in 3 years and even if it only lasts for 10 years in total, Im £700 beter off. How can that not be worth it.

Just a thought, .... If you had invested that 300 quid updating all of your light fittings to LED lamps, you would probably get a bigger and quicker return on your initial outlay. Over-all you would probably have made a bigger saving than this V Phase gizmo will give you!!....
