Hi,
Subject valve has just started making a humming noise.
Anyway to test its ok or to make it stop making a noise at night?
Looked here & there is some mentions of just the motor being replaced, easy job?

I guess the question is whether it's making a noise because there's a fault with another component, or the valve mechanism. Does it still operate in all three positions correctly: water, heating, and mid (both)?
The motor is fairly straightforward to replace, but it may be easier to remove the powered valve head and take it somewhere else to change the motor.
The OEM Honeywell motor has blue wires, and is (a lot) more expensive than the plethora of 'replacement' motors you can buy (which usually have red or orange wires).

The motor is continually powered in two of its three positions, and the OEM Honeywell version used to have a better reputation for being reliable, compared with the 'replacement' copies not necessarily made to the Honeywell spec. But your choice as to whether it's worth spending the extra money!

Or you could choose to replace the whole motorised head!
