I have decided its time to get my van done. I've only ever had NAPIT stickers but work has been a bit quiet and I've been won over by the 'free advertising' benefits of it (would start bringing my gear in overnight which tbh I should be doing anyway)!
Along with name, landline, mobile and web addys (along with napit stickers) would you lads advise putting a list of undertaken works on, i.e. DB Upgrades, Em Ligting, Fire alarms, maintenance repairs etc. etc. or is it better to have less- maybe more eye catching?

To be honest I wouldn't get bogged down with too much info. Keep it simple , name website and number and obviously if your name is not a give away then electrical contractor. People only have a short time in traffic to take your number so keep it simple and clear.

Seconding this - all I've got is 'electrician', my phone number and web addy, as well as elecsa and trustmarks. To give you an idea I have had two partial rewires in the last two weeks off it, just from parking in shed's carparks and nipping in for a few bits.

Keep it simple. Only put down particular works if that's your main goal (i.e - you might just want to focus on commercial, domestic or testing) although to be honest with the way the climate is you might be best to be open to all offers. I would suggest simply putting electrician with the scheme providers etc that you may be associated with.

Plus a landline number, mob and web addy...

dont you hate the citreon berlingo! a company i used to work for had them, and they were ****. really slow and no room for gear, only just enough for tools.
durham, how do you manage with anything other than domestic work, ie 3m lenghts of uni, tray, ladder ect?
i would get bigger van, but that is just my opinion, and i have'nt got to pay for it, and i would rather do anything other than domestic! :D

Agree with eddie & rocker. Name, number & if your mainly looking at domestic 'Electrician'. Your average Joe doesn't know what an electrical contractor is. Keep it bold & simple for curtain twitchers who may need your services, also people will start to remember your van being around. Keep away from pictures or being too flash.

And make sure the scheme provider logo is removable, just in case you decide to jump ship!

WOO HOO 5000 POSTS!!!!!!!!!!!! ( am i sad?)

:D

I don't have a great deal of info on the sides of my van, just basic name, phone number ect, then on the back doors I have listed a few examples of work on each door, obviously the longest time anyone will see your van while on the move would be if there following you from behind.

And it's worked... People have rang for DB change, Garden power, and fault finding because they read it on the back of my van.

But the sides still look smart as there not overdone with writing.

All sound advice..
I'll keep it simple on the sides but have a bit of a list down one of the back doors
and I'll stick to the removable stickers that napit sends out, wont bother getting any fancy logo work done.

Would you put your web addy on if the site was as simple as this? Jon Best Electrical Services
I just used an old copy of dreamweaver (and I dont know how to use it)
I've been thinking of getting a professional one done but this site and the entry onto free listing sites such as city visitor and mainly google local business has got me plenty of work.

How much did your site cost to get done professionally my friend from durham?

If this is applicable to anyone be warned- I was drawn into google advertising by a free voucher they sent- which you can only use if you register a bank card. If you dont keep an eye on it they do start taking money out! £40 a go etc.
