Hello there good people.Having problems again with my bathroom fan.Just over a year old too.The humidistat seems very temperamental.Im always adjusting it up and down to no happy medium and recently it just won't go off.
What I'm wondering is can I somehow bypass the humidistat and just have it working off the switch?
I have it wired so I can switch it manually and this works ok.My problem being I put the isolator switch up in the loft and I'm not going up there every time I want the fan on.
It has a permanent live to operate the humidistat and a switched live which I connected to a switch outside my bathroom but oddly if you remove the permanent live the switched live doesn't turn the fan on.
So again is there an easy fix to override the humidistat?

Edit just had a thought.Could I remove the wire inside the fan that goes to permanent live and put it in the switched live? Would that cause any problems?
Thanks

Stan

Putting the permanent live cable into the sw/l terminal would cause it to run permanently, which you wont want it to do.
You could maybe isolate the permanent live completely but fan would then only operate when light is switched on - ie no overrun!
The humidistat sensor itself could be isolated from within - usually 2 small wires to it (although not too familiar with the VA model).
Short term temporary measure - tape over the sensor to see if that helps before isolating completely?

Yes they are 'temperamental'!!

Thanks for your reply but I think you picked me up wrong.I meant the wire from the fan that goes into the terminal block with the permanent live.
If I just put this wire in along with the switched live it should work when switched. The permanent live will be left in the terminal block going nowhere.
This should just leave the fan basically in the same condition (if it was wired normally) as when you turn on the switched live.
The fan does actually run on with the timer when the switch is applied.

That is as my second sentence, isolating the permanent live but, the timer cannot run without the permanent live and therefore cannot overrun on the timer when switch is off.

Apologies mate that was stupid of me.How could the fan run on without power!Doh!Anyway that's it working from the switch only. Thanks for your help mate.
