Just a thought but some panels lock out and the keypad won't work if they have a tamper fault(lid off) try connecting up and replacing the lid see if that works, otherwise if all else fails ring the tech helpline, number on back of manual

So you have tried your own engineers code, not your usual user code but the engineers code?...

Have you tried resetting the panel as mentioned above?...

I have tried the default user code and the default engineer code but neither worked.

I will try the reset tomorrow and post the results on the thread.

Hi Phil. I didn't post it but yes everytime I reset it I reconnected the battery, pushed the fuse back in to the spur and replaced the Panel cover. I have a few things to try tomorrow from the people who have helped with advice on the thread and will post the results. I am hoping the original installers did not lock the Engineer Code.

Hi mate just a thought, make sure that the ribbon lead connecting the pcb of the remote keypad to the keys is secure at both ends as this sometimes comes loose during installation. This could also be the issue with the old keypad.

I think you may have been spot on because I decided to swap just the actual keypad unit from the new Remote Keypad (which didn't work when I installed it) onto the original board which meant removing and reconnecting the ribbon cable. The system then worked perfectly so I thought I would try the whole new unit again, putting the complete new Remote Keypad back together and installing that. Again which meant that I making sure I installed the ribbon cable firmly. On reconnecting the power the new Remote Keypad had lights and sound which it didn't when I installed it the first time. The only thing I did differently was remove and reconnect the ribbon cable.

What a relief when I saw the lights on the new RKP!

Many thanks to everyone who posted advice. Regards Gerard

Glad it's working out.

A common mistake when removing ribbons is to place them back one or two pins right or left over the original connectors and therefore giving all sorts of weird faults!!!

Seen this happen on a larger scale with industrial drive units, regularly came into it as there were a million bloody pins and no failsafe to connect them.
