Discuss volt stick in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net
My favourite is this:
eBay | Testeur de tension sans contact CA730, CHAUVIN ARNOUX
When I'm trying to identify which circuit to switch off I like to hear or see the effect of turning off a circuit breaker or isolating switch. For sockets I use a Martindale BZ101 Buzz It. For other circuits I sometimes wedge a voltstick (can't remember which make and it's out in the van) against the cable and listen, but it's a bit quiet. Does anyone know of one of these things with a good loud buzz or whistle which doesn't need a button holding in for it to work?
I carry a pair of snips 100% effective at detecting live wires!!!!!! and usually have the added bonus of tripping the circuit without need to trace it.
Does it make a noise (and if so, is it loud), or is it just LED?
