Discuss Volt sticks... in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

I'm going to buck the trend, I have one I bought from RSComponents but I'm not sure what make it is. It's black and it's called a 'Voltstick', I only use it about twice a year and it works fine, it's about 4-5 years old and still works with the original AAA batteries that came with it.

the best one i,ve used is a fluke pro230, has a notch in the end so you can identify a live cable in a grope

sorry, group

i used a volt stick for years, always spot on now i got a west 166 which lights up and beeps but its always best double check, seen a few sparks check with just that and then lose the end of the driver in a giant flash and a pop.

We only use them for verifying points of utilisation for inspecting/testing purposes, they're no substitute for the old approved voltage indicator!

I think it's fair to say the Fluke could be winning in the popularity stakes! ;)

Another vote for the Fluke from me, but as others have said i always use my Martindales for final verification as i don't like being electrocuted, it hurts too much !! :p

Only the N side of the lamp would be at 0v if you went further along the element the voltage would rise.
