Hi there,

I recently bought a Worksharp mk2 knife sharpener. Got it shipped from the US so I need an adapter for it here in Aus. The sharpener is meant for 115v 60hz power supplies only. In Australia the voltage rating of most households is 230v 50hz I believe?

I think I need some sort of step down transformer in order for me to use the appliance safely? If so, please send a link of what I need. Bit confused. I’m not sure which one I need to get depending on the watts?

On the website for the sharpener it says 120VAC/ 0:14 amp don’t really know what that means but just need the right transformer?

Thanks!

You can sort the voltage easily enough, but not the frequency, although I doubt the frequency difference will cause any problems other than making the motor run slightly slower.
You will need a 230V to 115V transformer of at least 20W rating. It can be a transformer with a primary and a secondary or an auto transformer, and, of course, will need to be in an enclosure.

Would these be okay? If so, which do you think is best?
