Why is every VW Transporter for sale a 'camper conversion opportunity' and not just a van, there should be a tax on those who convert perfectly good work vans into weekend accommodation!

That's a bit random.

Yeah I know:) was in a random mood, am looking for my first van and am amazed at how much ****e there is out there which is apparently waiting to be transformed into a Camper, Day Van or Surf Bus, I love VW but have given up on finding anything decent so am now looking at older Toyota Hiace, not as hip but hey ho!

It's a no brainer really. If you were selling an old van that you could get a grand more for if you advertised it to a crowd of people that were willing to pay lots of money to belong to a "scene" you'd do it too.

Part of what keeps the value up is the reliability as well though.

Yes, I have seen early VW T4 vans with 240K on them still making really good money!

Go for a later one if you are set on a T4. A mate of mine got an ex AA one for less than ÂŁ3k. At the end of summer is a good time as prices dip when the scene gets bored of them.

I also got offered a LWB T4 tonight, but at ÂŁ5K I think I'll give it a miss.

can't go wrong with a hiace. they're bomb proof, and none of that electronic crap that costs a fortune when it goes ---- up

what year , mileage and price?

Unfortunately was crap, 2006 with 88k, up for ÂŁ2995 looked like a peach until I saw it had had a rear end shunt and the doors didn't fit properly, it had also been signwritten and had the remnants of the glue all over it, now know why it was so cheap!:)

haha. sounds like mine. had a rear end shunt in ti last year. other driver's insurance co. paid me ÂŁ800 more than i'd paid for the van. ÂŁ30 bumper from ebay and a tailgate hammering with ÂŁ15 worth of pudding, not quite straight yet but it's presentable and goes from A to B.

bloody'ell.i bought myhouse for less than that. ( mind, that was in 1985) lol.
