Depends where you work.

Try ringing someone when you are in b2 in a hospital/crawling through ducting it aint going to happen

There's nothing worse than your comms not working when you're in a ventilation shaft chasing an alien that has acid for blood using a flamethrower so you can blow it out of the goddam airlock.

It all instant, no dialing, not contractors moaning they have no credit....just makes life easier....and 2 old taxi radios for ÂŁ20, and a ÂŁ5 interface lead, I think was a bargain..

If you want good range and quality, get an ofcom Licence for General uk site, ÂŁ65 for 5 years. PMR 446 radios have a power output of 50mW Licence radios have an output of 5W (5000mW) so its clear to see the range advantage on sites. Good models are Motorola CP040, GP340, GP344...We use 6 CP040`s very happy with them
What this man says :) I have about 40-odd Motorola UHF Radios with a 5W transmit power, and some chunkier desk sets with 25W transmit. I also rent them out if anyone in the SW needs some for bigger jobs.
