IMO most draper expert gear is garbage, they call it expert so the diy brigade think they,re buying proper gear, most of their power tools are cheap and nasty.

some of it's good. i've got a socket set, had it for 6 years, no probs. , and a pair of combi cutters, they are really nice. bought a draper angle grinder once, though. motor burnt out after 5 minutes of 1st use.

I suppose you get what you pay for, at nearly ÂŁ200 cheaper than equivalent in decent make I suppose it's obvious that something gonna give.

back in the day we used hammer and bolster or if it got tough a cutting disc on an angle grinder, still I suppose it depends on how much chasing you do,always avoided house bashing where possible.

I need to rewire the house I'm living in so, to try and keep the dust down, I am going to try a wall chaser. The last rewire I did was in an empty house and I used a disc cutter most of the bricks were engineering bricks, I've never seen so much dust.

Hire one with the extractor. It'll do what you want and be a load cheaper than buying a decent one but with the benefit of being up to the job.

Unless you're working in an empty (completely stripped of carpets etc) house you will need extraction with a chaser, it will be every bit as bad as using a disc cutter if you use it without extraction.

Erbauer one from screwfix is pretty decent for ÂŁ100. It's been through the wars with me.Erbauer ERB383WCH 125mm Wall Chaser 230-240V

That won't help one jot with the dust though, you probably need to spend ÂŁ100+ on a vacuum for that.

And even after that, when you get the chisel power tool out, the dust will win the battle. The grinder will be the worst of it and dealing with that can be done with the above unit & a proper vacuum. Chipping hammers/kango's don't come with them and that dust will travel like mad as well.

I use the Erbauer from Screwfix and a Bosch Gas15 Vacuum, doesn't get rid of the dust, just keeps it down.
The Erbauer has a 2 year warrantee, didn't know this but Erbauer is Screwfix's own brand

Hi Guys, sorry to jump in on this thread. I`ve gotta bite the bullet and buy a chasing tool with good extraction. I`m working on a populated house with good furniture everywhere. My budget is about 500. Ive had no experience with chasing machines. Please let me know your thoughts guys.

Hi Ross,
This was recommended to me, but slightly out of my budget, will have to keep saving & treat myself one day, Makita SG1250 & Makita 446L cost for both approx ÂŁ700 inc vat, very impressive with minimal dust.
