wandering lead method

Does anybody use method 2 regularly apart from the main bonding and if so do you not do the r1r2 value. Just really wandering if there's any advantage too??

iv been 'wandering' this myself recently ! i was thinking of buying a wander lead but they seem expensive for what they are. i think i would use it for bonding only. i think it would be advantage if all light fittings were class one ?

I've just bought 1 63quid meggar el50. Think of using it and seeing what happens would be good to go round all sockets and touch the screws to check there all earthed I thought without taking the fronts of might even help in fault find too

I use both depending on how easy it is to get to the internals to do R1+R2 and the state of the installation. R2 gives me the highest resistance outlet which I can then test for Zs for the circuit. Also depends on what I have agreed under extent of testing.

I tend to just do the R1+R2 method and use the wander lead to confirm the Main protective Bonding Conductor.

we use wander lead on every job where there is class 1 equipment ( lights fittings for eg)

r1r2 is requird at furthest point if poss, as is loop, but any class 1 fittings along the way still need to ve checked fof effdctive earth?

what mark is trying to say is that r1,r2 ( using lower case letters) is used to denote end-end resistance of a RFC. R1,R2 ( caps) is used when measiring circuit resistances from DB to point of utilisation. amazing how many guys don't know the difference.

I wouldn't be without a wander lead. I always carry out R1+R2 if at all possible, but as we all know, it's not always possible. Once you get one, you'll wonder how you ever did without it.
One word of advice though, get one where the cage can clip to your belt, as it's a pain holding the reel while carrying out the tests.
