How many of those have I taken out , and no thats not for any CPCs as there weren't any back then , thats for loop in, L + N ,

Has anybody come across any of the old capedy casing , well thats what we used to call it ,I think the proper term is Cap and casing also used for VIR singles , theres also all the old split tin system with all the little joints and also the really old wooden junction boxes and wooden consumer units

Found remnants of it under floors before, dry cloth/ deteriorating rubber inside wood? Must of seemed a good idea at the time at least

Just stripping out old industrial gear and I can conclude old metal JBs are heavy and shatter if you sneeze on them, also crabtrees old kit is better than walsalls* old stuff

VIR in capping and casing was a very good method, in it's time. You're talking pre WW2, mostly. I've seen some in really good condition as well as badly deteriorated. When you rip it out, just think of the spark who put it in, all those years ago. It took a lot of careful work to put it all together....an awful lot longer than a piece of MT2

I think I was told that carpenters were electricians back in old days.

Not exactly, but in the early days, electricians had to be multi skilled, carpentry being one of the more important skills required. That was when electricians were known as the gentlemen of the trades, and often wore suits and bowler to work, with the apprentice at least 3 steps behind him carrying his tools!! lol!!
