Washing Machine in Bathroom

Glad I'm not an electrician nowadays with all the regulations and lack of clarity. I would have thought a washing machine in a bathroom would have been well covered as I'm told its common practice in Europe. They think, apparently, we are unhygienic having them in our kitchens. Thanks for your responses, much appreciated. I was hoping someone would say yes that's ok and put my mind at rest.
