Just got one today on the advice of "our" lass....!

local force(s) held a joint op to stop and search ALL Vans on public roads including vehicles inside scrap dealers!!

Sweet...!! dont fancy a fine...!!

only £153 for a 3 year one!! :(

I could do with a dangerous goods licence for my emissions

Ive got green peace protesting near me mate , So you need a waste transfer licencee to take scrap cable ,mmm well in my eye's if you are taking it to be recycled how can it be waste , waste is something that cant be recycled and ends up in landfill or incinerated , just a thought

Valid point, but i dont think you would get very far with it!

cos as said above the police were probably just looking to get you into trouble for something else, and if they ask you if they can search the van and you say yes you give up your rights.
i remember in school for some reason i consented to being searched by my head of year for some reason while i had smokes on me, if only i new abit more about the las at that age.

or has it changed that police can search whatever vehicle they want?

So long as the "Waste" is from your normal job and you are not carrying waste for a third party then there is no need for liscence As for scrap cable only thing wrong with taking it to scrappies would be TnCs of some contracts say off cuts and downtakings ect remain property of the client Or if your employer specifies that they collect it

We've just been sent a soft copy of our companys one in case we're stopped. If 1 company can issue however many copies of their license, if enough people need one could the forum apply for one and issue copies at £1 each, profits to charity etc. I don't know the rules, and just a thought, but may be better than x hundred sole traders paying £150 each for one?
