So over the past few years we have seen the demise of 8 foot fluorescent tubes,50 watt halogen bulbs,500 watt floodlights and making tv standby power even more tiny.
This seems to pale into insignificance when electric cars are needing at least 7kw for 8 hours.
Now I don't know about you but when I'm in the shower for 10 minutes I'm thinking this is costing me a bit at 8.5 kw.So to leave 7kw on for 8 hours is madness. It makes a joke of all the energy savings over the past few years. What do you guys think?

Now they where fun to watch, why would you spend that sort of money fitting that facility when you can just use the car, not all caravan towers where so incompetent they could not reverse. ?
I used to think this about movers, until I managed to obtain one for ÂŁ20 (non working - brush spring broken on one motor), and fitted it.
The big advantages of these things are a) the ability to hitch the caravan to the car in seconds with absolutely no effort. b) you can position your 'van on sites in positions it would be impossible to get it into if attached to the car. Important on continental sites, where they are intended for 'vans with RH doors. UK 'vans have LH doors, so you need to drive 'nose in' with it. c) I can park my 'van and get it out of its shed at home in a couple of minutes, with no assistance.
Wouldn't contemplate owning a 'van without a mover now.

Caravaners tend to travel a bigger distance that most to get to a site worth staying at, therefore will have to break up their travel to accommodate the very low milage they will get towing a van.
I get slightly better MPG towing my 'van a thousand miles or so than I do just driving the car around locally.
With an electric tow car, I could do the same as I do with LPG - an auxiliary fuel tank (battery pack) in the 'van.

Give them the knowledge to load the van correctly so the tail does not wag the dog which force's them to drive sooooooooooo slow.?
I know how to load a 'van, and you'll never find me at the head of a traffic queue. My power to weight ratio with the 'van is still better than a lot of the smaller cars on the road.

This is a problem I already have, running my cars on LPG. Forecourt designers, both in the UK and across Europe, seem to delight in tucking the LPG pumps into some inaccessible corner.

That everyone thinks they can use as long term parking...

Edit: Thinking back, I preferred LPG pumps located out of the way as otherwise you had to queue for that one pump.

If I had my way they'd be banned from all single carriageway roads except between 01:00 and 05:00.
Agree, along with horse boxes. If people like horses so much why don't they ride them across fields rather than putting them in tin boxes and driving on roads really slowly!

costs 'em a fortune to shoe them nags every few weeks. why wear out a set of perfectly good shoes by walking on them. that is left to our good wives/GFs who only break them because they seen some others they want...."Honey, my shoes are worn out and I've had the ages ( 2 weeks) please can you give me ÂŁ200 for some new ones".

"Sod off . Good pair of Snickers toecaps at screwfix for ÂŁ50".

Top Gear had the right idea with caravans a few years back.
You mean when they used to do real vehicle reviews with Tiff Needel and Quentin Wilson.... They actually told you what was a good car at towing, for example.... Before the days of Jeremy, James and the accident prone one seeing what was the best way to make one explode!

If youre going to villify the noble art of towing caravans for being a little slow, but safe... then lets have a go at cyclists, tractor drivers and the hell spawn that is Audi Driver!

??????

A large reason for antipathy towards caravan owners is that they generally to take to the roads at busy times and hold up traffic for no reason other than their own pleasure. Tractors drivers tend to be going about their business and, while it's no pleasure being stuck in a queue behind one, at least they contribute something to society while going about their business of inconveniencing people.

Cyclists... well I guess a few are commuting but, yeah, I'd stick most of them inside caravans (along with Audi drivers) and hand them to the Top Gear team ?

*I used to be a cyclist and hated the attitudes of many cyclists towards other road users.

Ah, now theres a thing.... It may be the drivers pleasure, but they are travelling to a caravan site which is someone elses business... so they are important to the economy in some form... (although not as much as a farmer per se)

When I was a kid, our family holidays involved loading up a caravan, crossing the Irish Sea and driving half the length of GB. As such I have good reason for disliking them ?
