Hi, what are the best brand of tools, im looking at Knipex or CK, any suggestions would be much appreciated, Thanks

both are decent tools, think you'll find most are made by same manufacturer, different names on them. SWA do a good range of crimpers etc.

a lot with hand tools is down to personal prefference, i have ck and knipex snips both are good, the bahco ones are good, irazolas, wera, klauke, stanley are all good gear, have a look round and have a feel before parting with your cash and decide which you like best, i know you can get the full ck set up for around ÂŁ130 which includes a set of drivers hammer snips pliers knife and hack saw all in the technicians bag, can`t really go wrong at that price

I needed a set of snips n BnQ were only place left open tradepoint had SWA 3 piece set ÂŁ10+gov cut anyways Iv had them a couple of months now n theyr great
as with other guys comments personal preferances but I was told years ago spend as much as you can afford to lose try them out b4 buying tho CKs kit is good value for a starting point

My 10p says it's horses for courses. I believe there's no point buying a few top dollar tools if it means you can't afford others. I don't knock B&Q (although I'd love to), yes, you can buy cheaper and better, but not on a Sunday afternoon or any day after 5.00pm. A ÂŁ30 pair of cutters are only good until you mistakenly cut a live cable. A ÂŁ1.99 philips screwdriver is better than a ÂŁ15 pozi driver in a philips screw head. The MCB screw drivers are great, but only if you spend a lot of time connecting MCBs and dist boards. Spend your tool money wisely. You are going to loose, abuse or break tools far more often than they are going to wear out. A set of teaspoons and a dustpan and brush is probably more use to a first year apprentice than ringing tool :)

Never a truer word said!! I'm just a tool tart tho I just buy everything

thats a good way of putting it Bluey theres also no point in spending ÂŁ10 on a one off tool when Lidle do similar for 50p

I used to work with a old electrician who's tool box looked like he had ram raided poundland. Nothing was insulated, nothing matched, everything was covered in either rust or some other unidentifiable substance but he was a far better sparky than anyone I have yet to meet. His work was unbelievable, he never had a spirit level in his hand but could level anything he fixed, his lump hammer was about 25KG and his chisel about 2" long but he chopped faster than anyone else on site and never seemed to hit his hand!!!

I on the other hand have spent hundreds (if not thousands) on the full range of Knipex VDE, Estwing Hammers, CK, Irazola, Bosch, Hilti etc etc and can only hope one day to be at a standard close to his. I think what pennywise said is pretty accurate, get yourself a decent set of drivers and cutters, then everything else can be upgraded over time.

I used KNIPEX for almost 2 years in my business. It last longer than the other brand I used. Another thing , its cheaper. I found some cheaper in the net but I don't think so if I purchase them will arrived in my door as it is in the internet. Not so sure with their honesty.
