I’ll hold my hands up, I’ve never touched the stuff since college about 15 years ago. :(

I've probably not touched it in a decade, more's the pity. Did plenty outside of college, but would need a few practice ends before doing one I intended energising.

I don't touch it often....I can only count 12 ends I've made off in the last 3 years. 6 on new fire alarm panel that had to be moved up and 6 on 3 switch drops where I ran bare 2L1.5 along exposed beams. The real fun starts when you have imperial cable and metric glands

Apparently "we" now call it MIMS I was told I was wrong by the apprentice for calling it "Pyro" or "MICC"

Davesparks clarified this one for me a while back.

MIMS Mineral insulated metal sheathed .... can be any metal sheath including copper.
MICC Mineral insulated copper clad .... just what it says
PYRO Pyrotenax ... brand name
MI Mineral insulated ... all encompassing term

So MI, MICC, or MIMS are all correct for copper clad MI cable

MICC, Pyro Proper cable used to be installed by Proper Electricians
I hadn't until a few months ago but had to make one off for an existing circuit ,made a change to do something different.
If done carefully some of the larger MICC ends can be made off with normal day today tools as an emergency option, mind you I wouldn't want to do many ends without the proper tooling, tin hat on, and I'm in me bunker.

I think you could but only those who have made off a lot of glands would be confident in doing so.

I've heard of the pliers method but never tried it. When learning the skill in college all the tools were knackered and I found the slotted T-bar the best tool for stripping.

You can successfully strip the sheath with side cutters once you gain the knack but it still has to be 'ringed' properly for the pot to fit nicely.
