Flakey

Hi there ,

Ive just passed my 2391 :) and have m 17th 2330 2/3.
What i would like to know with regards to self employment how would the nvq be beneficial aside from the experience gained from attaining it .
is it somthing i need to register with NICEIC/NAPIT for example will it let me issue niceic cert or a generic one?
Sorry to sound like a doughnut any help appreciated.

james

you should see if anyone is doing the 2356 old one still then you can avoid the extra unit and am2

and i think coz you have 2391, u would get a approved electrician card

i do not have 2391 yet so am just a jib electrician so far

sorry mate, I've just re-read my previous post and it seemed, un-intentionally quite blunt.
I have journeyed through a similar path to you!!! The C&G 2391 & 17th are add-ons and generally only come into play (to your advantage) when you can prove a recognised NVQ 3 to support them. Very well done for the 2391 success - this is a qual that all good employers recognise and If they are not JIB affiliated (MANY AREN'T)will get you through the door and into certain roles under the electrican title.
Many company's use their business managers to conduct interviews for electricians and are clueless about what the qualifications actually mean!!. I was very lucky in this respect and served my own internal un-official apprenticeship with some very switched-on olds and bolds HAHA. I'm taking advantage of this richly knowledgable environment before they all retire and leave me on my own!! My head pounded everyday from the tuition I received on-the-job and the acceptance within the group after a year or so was worth more than a piece of paper.

It’s sad that you had to say no more money to them for them to pull their fingers out.
