P

peanutty

hi guys,

i'm after a little advise if anyone can help, i've been working for a company that works solely in domestic electrics for 4 years now and have been turning down private work for friends and family as i'm only registered to work for them. part P etc. does anyone have any advise as to who i could register with without great expense for doing the odd weekend job for friends and family to earn a little extra money for the family, although most people say just do it and don't worry i'd rather do it all legit and sign off. company are fine with me doing it as long as i don't take buisness from them.

thanks

peanutty.

I hear Elecsa are about the best & cheapest for part p registration.

If it's only the small job here and there, try contacting your LABC to see how much they charge per job.

so does all the sparks have to be part p certified or just the company you work for???//hi and welcome along sure somone will have a swift awnser for you peanuty

i had the same idea mate to do "fiddles" legitimately but the general response i got is that the schemes cost £300-£400 a year or the LABC costs apparently vary on each job ranging between £60-£300 per job then you need insurance etc didnt seem to be that cost effective unless you do a lot of work im interested to see what other responses that will come but that was the general reply i got like

If you opt to join a scheme they'll be wanting public liability insurance and tools calibrated in your name too. Don't forget these when you're doing your calcs.

thanks for the swift reponse guy's. yeah fully understand that i can't use company's equipment and that i need my stuff needs correctly calibrated etc and that i need public liability insurance. nobody heard of a scheme that deals with "part time work!"

I think they still do...
When I called about a month or two ago, they said that they did, but it was more for those who were already fully qualified and were nearing retirement (must already have nvq3, 17th and 2391). Plus, it was still quite expensive.
