HI all,

all ready to quote for jobs now, but really struggling as what to take to peoples houses, do any of you do the following

take a small sample panel.

take a laptop with the software on it to choose panels etc.

take any panel leaflets info etc.

I just really stuck on what to do when entering the house, im a sparky so just usually go there tell them they need this and that , simples.

how many panel options do you give people as there is thousands out there or do you stick with just 4 or 5 options, really excited about doing the first job but i just not a salesperson.

thanks
Grand

i'd be wary of giving them too much choice, then it may be difficult for them to make their mind up. i'd give the option of dual RCD or RCBOs and explain the advantages/disadvantages etc., but that's all.

oh, sorry. i misread your post. muchos apologos, was thinking about CUs. not pv.

Offer them non-branded panel, branded panel and top panel (Sanyo), dont get hung up over the inverter, you can match this up when designing the system for the best match, if customer ask - ask them if they have a preference.

Take a pen.....suprising how many times ive lost mine in the van!, tape measure/laser measure, REAL leaflet and company info to leave behind, survey form.

I always do a mini survey when im there - plan out the cable route for ther A/C or D/C if the inverters in the garage etc, talk it through with the customer, most of them love it when you actualy ask them what they think.

Dont forget your the expert, but blind them with science, just be honest and this will come accross.

I always go dressed in my work gear as im the installer as well.

The first few are the worst, dont get dishearted if you dont get your first few quotes, use it as a learning curve. If you dont know the answer to a question - put your hand up and say so, then get back to them promptly when you been on here and asked us...lol.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply's guys, I've done a load of ac installs for a big PV company just to get my hand in , I've got No worries about doing the install at all or the ac run as I'm a Sparky I can work that out without even thinking about it . It's just the sales patter on the system design and yields and panel info I'm struggling on , and I'm struggling on pvsol I just cAnt work it out , cAn you tell me where to get the real leaflets from, do you email them?

yes - email REAL they send very quickley. Regards to sales patter, you dont need it, just tell them yeild is based on SAP, and all the quotes they get should be based on SAP, and then provide an estimate based on PV SOL, but tell them its the un-offical quote and its the SAP calc that will be used on the official quote doc.

If you listen to the customer they will tell you what they want regards to the panels - ask the customer whats more important to them, brand of panel, cost of system, yeild? and most come back and say all 3! Most customers i see either say "i'll be guided by you" and the others say "sharp SMA" yawn yawn, so i give them a branded option, i dont use Sharp but give em something they know like samsung, LG, Bosch etc even at the cost of greater yeild from other panels.

Your always going to be up against the Sharp SMA boys because thats what they think the customer wants to hear, and its because thats what the training school told em to use, but anyone in the know will tell you theres alternative options out there.
