what drill?

thinking of finally getting a new drill on payday since i my sister and her partner have taken their spare titan 10.8v back.

i have several projects to do around my smallholding which require drill into wood and screw driving. also, since i am starting college in September and will be taking my job search up a gear, i would like a drill that will be up for the task.

i love the 10.8v stuff, it does exactly what i need at home and the contractors at work cant rate their makita and bosch 10.8v gear enough. they use it more than their 18v stuff.

i have £100 to spend.

my question is .... what do you guys use day to day at work and do you think 10.8v gear will be up for the job if and when i get a job in the industry ....

A vote for Makita here. I have the drill/impact set at home and use it all the time.

I want to get reciprocating saw for use in the garden as well an angle grinder so the lxt range could be a good shout.

Only ever used Bosch and have never been let down, can't fault them at all - currently have the Bosch 18v Combi (4ah Battery) & Bosch 36v SDS.

The blue bosch 10.8v is my little fave! stays in my bag with my hand tools and gets used for just about everything! it just feels well balanced

Someone on the forum kindly recommended me the makita 458 I got it with two 3ah batts and a charger for £199.
It's been great so far going through walls and joists with ease even with cheap bits.
I was going to get that makita 453 they always have in Screwfix at £149 someone said it was a toy.
I'm not sure if that's true

We have both and the 453 is a toy compared to the 458.

im now tempted to get a 10.8v combi drill for now and invest in a decent 18v when i land a job.

Only problem with that is you can't drill a hole in brick or concrete with a 10.8 so your stuck if you need to drill a hole for a plug. Like I say I use mine everyday but it's more like a screw gun for me

Personally I don't think so.

That would be the way to go. Not worth buying something you could potentially be provided with (job dependant!).
