What happens in the fittings of em lights.

A

Andy 7671

Hmmm...how to explain this ...

L1 ....Permanent feed via key switch to battery pack. (OK to termination point which leads to battery)

L2.....Switchline to lighting

Now I flick the keyswitch which opens circuit and light is by battery power.

What about L2,...? is there a coil in the fitting which collapses, preventing power reaching lights..?

Any knowledge greatfully received....

If all lights are switched on the opening the kill switch will leave all lights on but the emergency fittings will turn off except the em light (if they're 6x6 four tube fittings for example) unless the ks has been wired to kill power to all lights.

Thanks, Im gonna have to have a think here, just gonna take L2 from perm on ks as I have now found out the friendly little PCB will take care of all my worries, I hope.

Tell us............ You know what our imaginations are like when we have to speculate! lol

Well, since you asked, and I know you wont tell anyone else, truth is..its the downside to going to college in the evening and spending years subbying as a mate, draw the diagrams, pull the cables, identify and leave for a sparks, to workup a mighty sweat terminating.

Im half jesting, got to work on some good projects, and learnt a lot with some clever men, just always seemed to glaze over with this.

I think it stemmed from the first time I opened a keyswitch, in hindsight I think someone must have linked it out or something, it was an old refurb and...hmm thanks, maybe it was two ks"s..

Know what you mean Andy, To me, you are either an Installation Spark or an electronics engineer, I just connect my wires to the equipment and if the correct voltage is there, that's me done, whatever the little green boards do is down to someone else.

Not true of everyone though, there are some very clever Boys and Girls on this Forum .

But most of them do what we do, if the electronics don't work, fit new.

So you should be able to answer the OP's question?

I could answer many questions, as well as ask quite a few. Sometimes I feel that someone is not qualified to handle extra information and should employ an electrician. Sometimes I feel that another forum member has more knowledge than me to offer the correct advice. You may even find that I have already commented on this occasion...
