I have the Bosch 10.8 impact, never had a problem with 2.5" screws into joists and put hundreds of them in to support brackets on ceilings. I tend to use it for screwing 1.5" screws direct into brick too when putting battons on walls, then after it's on and level pull it off again and all your holes are marked out perfectly for rawlplugs. Never used another to compare but seems to have a lot of kick for the size of it, I've put in 4" screws with it and it pulls the heads off them before giving up so can't see how a more powerful one would help in that case!
