A

alarm man

re some uncomplementry posts basically saying 'get a spark in' what is a spark, being a spark covers alot of things from fitting a light to fitting pylons, were all sparks with different skills and different ways of doing things so respect should be shown to all,
i served my time in controls doing things like bms, production lines, marine control systems and some industrial jobs,im a jib spark but would struggle on doing a full house rewire, weve all got something to share and help one another what ever the expierenece we hold..lets not get like other forums,no one likes a gob*****

were not the royalty of trades for nothing:cool:

Have to agree with that. There are so many variants of "sparks".
There are lots of guys who work solely on domestic who would be lost on a commercial or industrial installation and vice versa. But at the end of the day we are all electricians and should show respect to all members no matter how silly you might think their questions are.
Rather than slag members off try and give constructive help if you can't do this then don't post a reply.

fully agree with op ;)

seems to be a lot of "fully qualified" electricians popping up on here lately though with unbelievable questions like what cable shall i use and which consumer unit.

make your questions clear and concise and it makes the answers much easier :p

Whats an electrician ... guy that drinks loads of coffee and eats Kit Kat chunkys .... oh thats me sorry

I totally agree with whats been said here think i made my point on the Fused spurs post

thats an alarm mans main skill:D glad some people think the same that we all have something to give as sparks instead of the 'if you havent done a spark apprentice thing your not a proper spark' i know theres a few ex navy sparks on here, probably could have helped them a few years ago on the isis control systems:cool:

Well at the mo ive got an alarm guy who's just passed his 17th edition but lacking experiance so he's comming out with me to learn how to drink coffee .. lol no i mean gain experiance in the trade ,if every one helps each other the knowlage will become endless

If you can't do someone a good turn...Don't do them a bad one

What I know about big installs on commercial I could write on the back of a postage stamp..Does that bother me ? No because what I do I do well and within the regs and to the best of my ability, I endeavour to always learn and pick brains from who I can when I can from those more knowledgeable, I am glued to this forum since joining it's unbelievably enlightening.

i am with you all the way cbw :p

as already stated questions asked by "qualified electricians" on here sometimes beggar belief

lads..your missing the point..im not talking how to wire a socket..many sparks have never done domestic, that does NOT mean they are not sparks...
in answer to your question an electrician can be anyone that works with cables

to carry out electrical work though you need the relevant qualifications and experience and be competent to attempt the work whether it be installing alarms, wiring houses, shops or factories
