The board is supplied via RCD main switch which currently hasn't tripped. However it has been installed since mid 80's and has not been tested.

This guy is a member of a scheme, he apparently also has a sign written van advertising his skills.
He aint got any skills, what ever scam he belongs to, need to be informed of this holocaust of a job, people may mock the reporting bit, but these types are giving hard working decent Electricians a bad name.
Not ever had the need to belong to a scheme, what happens when you report some one like this? nothing by the sounds of it, and why is that? Money is the answer, do a 5 week course, get someone decent to install a couple of jobs, get them inspected by which ever scam you are applying to, once registered do what you want, until the next review, it's bloody scandalous, why doesn't someone do something? you all know it's a farce, can't something be done, all those poor householders getting ripped off by nothing more than some dipstick who thinks he/she is an Electrician.:mad::mad::mad: Yes I'm angry bloody angry in fact.

advertising what???? get round there and rip him a new one.
He certainly needs a quite word behind closed/soundproof doors, with a clean up team to follow.

Is one of those superbly fashioned cables, attached to the drain pipe with cables ties? If he has, at least he's used matching white.

with a litle bit of effort, those cable ties on the drainpipe could have been evenly spaced. pooor workmanship, indeed. ( and that's the best part of the installation).

Doing a bathroom refurb at the mo'. Owner had boarded out the loft, but did relocate the cables above the chipboard, utilising the existing ceiling roses as JB's, and bathroom batten holder, the same. Cables laid out spider web fashion. Someone had added some down lights in the bathroom, using some car wiring from Halfords. This prompted some pre-emptive testing, revealing cpc's at one ceiling rose doing diddly squat. When I reported my findings to the house owner, the father-in-law was to blame, apparently. ;)
