Hi All,

I'm new to the site, so hello all.

I've only managed to find old postings to my questions so i'm hoping someone can help.

I'm looking to move into property development, and its making me wish more and more that i had studied a trade at college. Im know looking at doing a course at OLCI Birmingham. Has anyone used these guys?

Also, am i correct in saying you need C&G 2330 L2 + L3, 2356(NVQ), 2391,2392 and 2382 to be classed as fully qualified and to gain a JIB??? card?

I'm aware and i agree that nothing is better than experience, and that your constantly learning new things, but i will be using these skills for when i'm developing, and then hoping to gain work, either self employed or under a employer.

This is a total career change for me, and just as much as a good investment, i'm a hands on person, and i know its something i will enjoy doing.

Any advise is V grateful.

Thanks

OLCI - Course should give me

"City & Guilds 2357 Level 3 Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) incorporating 2365 Level 2 and Level 3 Diplomas in Electrotechnical Installations (Buildings and Structures)"

So do i then have to do the AM2 course on top? and is this a 3 day assessment course?

cheers..

understanding it more know, thanks.

im guessing you just apply to JIB with the quals to be registered?

I wish i could go the apprenticeship route, but age and family/financial commitments makes it very difficult. it would help with the experience side.

I think its going to be hard enough finding some where to do the practical to help build my portfolio for the NVQ.

Nvq 3 with olci forget it mate never happen u need to be apprentice to do it

i understand apprenticeship is best, purely just for the experience, but i have financial commitment. And as i said, its for personnel use for my property's. For my circumstances, OLCI or similar is the best way, i can still work, learn the trade, and put it to use on my own property. If i f**k up or too much to handle ill call someone better qulified in and then learn as i go.

As i said, its more a investment, and then maybe as a career when i know im competent and experienced enough. Instead of the job i hold know.

Im not stupid, ive done the research, its called a skill for a reason. you cant just buy a football, kick it in the back garden for a week and then play for Man UTD.

And you cant just pick up a screwdriver, do a 5 week course and call yourself a skilled/qualified electrician!!!!
