Problem is this still requires some level of skill to termination properly...

The way i keep seeing Swa installed recently is they cut off all the armouring and just take the inner cores through the stuffing gland.

Yeah you're right, although the start of the vid mentions armoured cable ? I have had them introduced to me as for use with armoured in the wholesalers, but then when you are dealing with glands for cable made by a company called SWA the potential for confusion is increased.

I can see the plastic body of these splitting after a while in situ thus releasing the pressure on the brass ring holding the armour in.

I come across plastic glands which have split as a result of slight overtightening when originally installed on a depressingly regular basis.

Was told by the supplier that they were for SY cable, I wanted a second opinion in-case I was losing it!
The packets were labeled wrong.

Not necessarily, if they are made for SY that would explain the cross hatching on the cone which isn't normally there in an SWS gland.
What does it say on the packet, what is the brand an dpart number?
Is there anything stamped on the gland to identify type, BS etc?
