hi i'm looking for a multi function tester, some say 17th edition testers, some dont, i know these are older (pre 17th edition). what is the difference between them, surely an older tester can still be used?
thanks
malcoa

as long as the MFT will perform all the required tests,( continuity, IR, EFLI, RCD, it will do.

megger 1552 will do everything you need with the exception of phase rotation. ( that's if you need that feature)

I own a fluke and its been great......getting a bit bettered, I have used metral (Hated it) Used Kewteck (Not keen) and various Megers.....I had a play with one of Megers latest ones the other day and NEARLY parted with my hard earned cash.

Came to my senses and will wait till the fluke finally dies, but my next MFT will be the latest Meger! (Oh why do I feel unfaithful???)

im still on my faithful metrel mi3000 and i cant fault its performance. coming up 4years now and never missed a beat. Does everything needed (+ phase rotation ;) )

Keep an eye on eBay I managed to pick up a fluke 1652 for ÂŁ200 an have seen then go for as little as ÂŁ160

Megger 1552's seem to go for a lot more

Hi Guys - we at test-meter are the UK's largest Metrel supplier and sole supplier of the Metrel MI3000 - I used this tester at college and IMHO I found it really easy to find my way around, and it easily familiarised me with testing installations.

As a forum sponsor we really value your business - if you find a model of tester that you really like, give us a call, we're more than happy to help.

Cheers!

I don't view it as an essential feature. The tester I use day-to-day doesn't do that test. It doesn't cause me any problems. All low current tests...
