What Part P testers recommended

If your gut is about the same shape as mine( not as flat as it has been!) the fluke rests nicely and the gel filled neck pad is comfortable all day long. Not the most important things I know but how many testers are you going to buy in the next 5 years, how often are you going to use it and how long are you going to use it per day. Nothing irks more than a bit of kit that costs a lot of money but is uncomfortable to use. I also heard a rumour that uk spec flukes can be ordered online from the states cheaper than here. Don't know how much truth in that.

Like Carter, no doubt, I have had the dubious pleasure of using all sorts of wierd and wonderful test equipment over the years (with various degrees of satisfaction).
At present I use a Fluke 1652 and I have to admit that I find it very easy to use and a first class bit of kit.
If you are looking seriously at Fluke and you can stretch that bit more (or barter the price down a bit) I would go for one of these.

I think that this is subject that we will all differ on and you like what you like. I use a Megger 1553. It does all that i want and i use the bluetooth all the time, saves a lot of time when you ar doing 32 way boards.

I do mainly refurbs and maintenance work, I keep turning down jobs that involve Part P certifying and I am thinking of doing the domestic installers scheme course.
Can anyone tell me what they think are best testers to use price wise and ease of use as well as of course the quality of testing.
Any advice much appreciated.

I have been looking at the Fluke 1651 which appears to a lot of the testing.

Hi, the 1651B is a great little tester, but dont overlook the Kewtech range, KT61 and KT62 are fantastic value and less than the 1651 , Kewtech are made by Kyritsou who used to manufacture all the Robin gear, so quality is great. I agree with spark doctor, we all like different bits of kits. Best idea is to see if you can borrow or try and get some hands on in the wholesalers. Most of us guys who had 14 th edition ( or earlier) only every heard of megger or fluke ( can anyone remember the mk8 avo?)
